Film Title

We've decided to call our film 'Death in Bloom' as the general theme in the trailer is death, as the narrative consists of a girl who was killed and returns as a ghost. This contrasts with 'bloom', which by definition means something of a fresh and healthy appearance, which has connotations of life and being alive. Both ends of the title are linked by the fact she is dead but has supposedly come back to life, which is a reason for the 'bloom'. This was also chosen as the male protagonist has a keen interest in horticulture, and accidentally kills the girl with a plant pot, which creates a comedic sense that something that represents life is the weapon of destruction of another life.

Use of Colour

Our Genre

The genre of our film trailer is indie comedy, and possibly a hybrid of romance. We chose this because the mainstream conception of comedy films include Hollywood examples such as 'The Hangover' 'Dumb and Dumber' and 'Anchorman', which emphasises sounds and characters.
As our trailer still has the element of comedy but not as exaggerated, we're making it an indie film, as the film would appeal to a niche audience and would focus more on the artistry of cinematography.

Edgar Wright's Visual Comedy

We want to take inspiration from the way director Edgar Wright uses cinematography and editing to enforce the genre of comedy. We want to avoid simple mid and shot reverse shots, and relying on only dialogue to enforce the comedy, which many comedy films do.
